Allow myself to introduce…myself.

Eating is serious business. Especially in Chicago.

And for those of us who love it, it's an endless source of conversation, our motivation for every trip to the gym, and the reason it's a struggle to make rent some months.

Call us what you want. Foodies? Gourmands? My personal favorite…fat kids? Calorie consumption is practically a sport here in Chicago.

I'm Paige Worthy, and I'm Chicago Food Planet's new content manager.

I've actually known about these tours for quite a while; a couple of years ago, I went on the Wicker Park and Bucktown tour and it was magical. Our guide, Kent, was amazing. I met a guy from London who works for the BBC. I ate a marshmallow the size of my fist. I saw a cannon sitting in someone's yard. I had falafel. I walked off at least three bites of what I ate.

Years later, I'm still recommending the tour to everyone who comes to visit Chicago — and some locals, too. (Note: You do not have to be a tourist to go on these tours! This is a killer way to see new parts of your fair city, residents.)

So…what does this content manager thing mean? In short: I get to write about food. Basically, I'm living my dream. Here's what you can expect from this blog:

Places to go. On walking tours, you're…going to go places. I'm going to talk about some of them. The culinary, the cultural, the architectural. Chicago has so many amazing hidden gems — parks and buildings, random side streets — that you could spend days on end just exploring. Maybe you should.

People to see. One of my favorite parts about Chicago's food scene: It's never just about the food. The people behind the dishes, the folks who create the wine lists, the servers who make every experience a joy… I'm excited to tell my food people stories through profiles of restaurateurs and Q&As with Chicago Food Planet tour guides.

Stuff to eat. Obviously, a blog about food would be worthless without some gratuitous food porn and some drool in word form. (I did manage to snag a FEW photos of our food in Chinatown before I went to town on it…) And maybe I'll even write about other things I've eaten…sometimes they're just too good not to share.

I'm going to be busy over here, and I can't wait to get started.
